Despite a major crack-down on excessive noise, the volume in many areas of the city frequently exceeds 85dB – a level that, with prolonged exposure, causes permanent hearing damage. 2013 saw a 30% increase in noise complaints from two years ago.

The Most Beautiful Sound In The World: Finalists announced
In November 2013, The Sound Agency teamed up with SoundCloud and BeautifulNow to launch the Most Beautiful Sound In The World competition. Over New Year, the hundreds of entries were narrowed down to 12 finalists by Bernie Krause, Shira White and myself.
The finalists have been released on the BeautifulNow website, ready for you to pick your favourite. Voting closes on January 12th so head over there now to have a listen.
