Who we are

juliantreasure.com is run by Julian Treasure Limited, company number 08353672. We're the controller of the personal information described in this policy, and we're registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration number ZC251854.

The information we collect

When you make an enquiry. If you ask about booking Julian to speak, about a workshop, private advisory, sound consultancy or The Sound Leader, we collect what you enter in the form. Depending on the form, that can include your name, job title, organisation, email address, telephone number, event details such as name, dates, location, audience and format, budget range, whether a speaking bureau is involved, how you heard about Julian and anything you write in your message.

When you sign up for something free. If you download a free resource, take one of our free assessments or join our mailing list, we collect your name, your email address, the resource or list you chose and, where you give them, your answers.

When you use the website. With your consent, we use analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, how visitors arrived, including the campaign codes in links from emails and social media, and roughly where in the world they are. See "Cookies" below.

When you email or call us. We keep the correspondence so that we can reply and keep a record of what was agreed.

We don't ask for sensitive information such as health, religious or political information, and we'd ask you not to include it in messages.

How we use your information, and our lawful basis

We reply to your enquiry, check availability, prepare a proposal and arrange an engagement, relying on our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries, or on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. We deliver and administer the engagement you've booked, including invoicing, relying on the contract between us and on our legal obligation to keep accounting records. We pass enquiries about events in the Americas to our agent there, relying on legitimate interests.

We send you the free resource you asked for, and our newsletter and news of Julian's work, courses and events, relying on your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. We may follow up a business enquiry with relevant information, relying on legitimate interests and only where the law allows it for business contacts. We use analytics to understand how the site is used, relying on the consent you give through the cookie banner, and we keep the site and our forms secure and free of spam, relying on legitimate interests.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we've considered your interests and rights and believe they're not overridden. You can ask us for details of that assessment.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your information, and we don't share it for other organisations' marketing.

Our speaking agents. The Lavin Agency is Julian's exclusive agent for engagements originating in North and South America. If your enquiry concerns an event in the Americas, we send it to The Lavin Agency, who will contact you and handle the booking. For events elsewhere, we may share your enquiry with another agent who represents Julian in that region, and we'll tell you if we do.

Service providers who work on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect your information and use it only on our instructions: GoHighLevel, which holds our contact database and sends our emails; Floot, which hosts the website and sends form notifications; Google Workspace, for email and document storage; Google Analytics 4, for website analytics; Cloudflare, whose Turnstile service blocks spam on our forms; and our accountants and professional advisers where needed.

Other platforms you choose to visit. Links on the site take you to services run by other organisations: the Master Conscious Communication app on Studio, The Listening Society on Circle, the newsletter on Substack, and videos on YouTube. Once you're on their sites, their own privacy policies apply. Videos embedded on our pages load nothing until you press play.

When the law requires it. We may disclose information to comply with a legal obligation or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

International transfers

Some of our service providers, and The Lavin Agency, are based in the United States or store information there. Where your information is transferred outside the UK, we make sure it's protected, for example because the recipient is certified under the UK Extension to the EU to US Data Privacy Framework, or because we have an International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in place. You can ask us for details.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that don't lead to a booking: two years after our last contact, then deleted.
• Clients and engagements: six years after the end of the financial year in which the engagement took place, because tax and company law require us to keep business records.
• Mailing list and free resources: until you unsubscribe, after which we keep only your email address on a suppression list so that we don't email you again. If you haven't opened any of our emails for two years, we may remove you.
• Analytics data: 14 months.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us for a copy of your information; to have it corrected if it's wrong; to have it deleted; to restrict or object to our use of it, including an absolute right to object to direct marketing; to receive it in a portable format; and, where we rely on your consent, to withdraw that consent at any time without affecting anything we did before.

To use any of these rights, email jane@juliantreasure.com. We'll reply within one month, and we don't charge for this. We may need to confirm your identity first.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so that we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. We use two kinds. Essential cookies make the site work, for example by remembering your cookie choice and protecting our forms from spam. They don't need consent and can't be switched off. Analytics cookies help us see how the site is used, and we set them only if you agree through the banner shown on your first visit. You can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer of every page.

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. There's more detail on the cookies page.

Children

This website is intended for adults and for organisations. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections to the website, access controls on our systems and service providers who meet recognised security standards. No website is perfectly secure, so please don't send us anything confidential through a form.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date below shows when it last changed, and if a change is significant we'll say so on the website or tell you directly.
